Vamping it up

La Senza’s new holiday collection combines East-meets-West designs, says SHEELA CHANDRAN, who got a sneak peek.

WOMEN can be very selective when it comes to lingerie. Some women prefer simple camisoles and pajamas while others go for exotic and sheer lingerie. Apart from enhancing female sexuality, the intimate apparel makes women feel stylish, trendy and most of all – fashionable.

La Senza, a Canadian-based company founded in 1990, is one of the leaders in lingerie apparel. Its collection features underwear, sleepwear, loungewear, active wear, body care and accessories.

The label launched its holiday collection recently, inspired by four themes – Spanish (La Senza Luxury), Geisha Traditional (Luxury), Rock Baroque (Love) and Vivid Brights (Candy). Ranging from provocative single and two-piece suits, to slips and robes, these latest designs are suitably sexy and given a touch of glam.

The collection was shown at the company’s regional party at Theatreworks, a former rice warehouse-turned-art centre, in Singapore recently.

Silky satin slips
Tiger stripes give a peek-a-boo effect to this silky satin slip.

The event saw over 600 guests who were instructed to dress à la Eyes Wide Shut (the Stanley Kubrick movie) – with most of them coming appropriately attired in lacy and woolly tops. Even the masked waiters, smartly decked in black shirts and pants, suited the theme for the night.

La Senza Luxury’s Spanish-inspired holiday collection is a must-have for those who love romantic designs in lace, chiffon and satin. Available in this collection are long gowns, kimonos, baby dolls and slip-ons, in subtle colours like floral green, brown, blue and pink. Green represents strong emotion while blue, tranquility and calmness. When both colours are combined, a striking contrast of strength and passion are reflected in these sexy designs.

For Luxury’s geisha glam-inspired collection, bold oriental shades of red and black are used for the gowns, two-piece ensembles, kimono, shrugs and long robes with intricate Oriental imprints. Befitting the Eastern look, the collection comes in mesh, silk, jacquard and chiffon.

For those who prefer frilly outfits, the Love Collection features mainly ruffles made from micro material, stretch satin, mesh and lace. In the spirit of the 16th-century Baroque era, the designs feature open bustiers fastened with ribbons and cords. There are also kimonos, baby dolls, fishnet bustiers and underwear with ruffles, bows and lace. Choice shades include red, black and lavender.

For teens or those young at heart, La Senza Candy is available in contrasting primary colours and intense hues. In line with its concept – young and fresh – the collection has matching tops and bottoms in fun designs and accessories. You can sleep stylishly in boxer shorts, pyjama sets, robes, T-shirts and accessories.
