If I walked down the high street and did the same to a member of the public I would be arrested and probably put on the sex offenders list. I do like upskirt shots though

The road to Juruaia Brazil is just a bit more picturesque than most, thanks to dozens of billboards featuring scantily-clad models posing in the town’s No. 1 product: lingerie.

Once a struggling agricultural town, Juruaia now bills itself as the intimate apparel capital of Brazil. And that title isn’t far-fetched. There are now 141 lingerie manufacturers in Juruaia, according to Joao Batista da Silva, the town’s secretary of commerce, industry and tourism (and the owner of two of the companies, Perlui and Sensual Lingerie) that equates to one per 58 inhabitants.

And as it turns out, the lingerie business is a good one to be in these days in Brazil.

The international financial crisis  has also hit Brazil, but in Juruaia, the frilly panties are still flying off the assembly lines and retail shelves.

Twelve new panty businesses opened in Juruaia in September alone, and most space  in a half-constructed commercial building is already spoken for.

Several employees work after closing hours putting the finishing touches on a new line of lacy white camisoles that had to be shipped out soon there will never be a crisis for people who work with women’s vanity and men’s vices,” the owner said In fact, the only crisis in these parts is a labor shortage. If someone wants a job, and they know what they’re doing, there’s no lack of employment in Juruaia.  Many companies must recruit from neighboring towns like Guaxupe and Muzambinho.

A  Kirinyaga prison warden has chased out his wife over an incident involving the purchase of three pairs of used panties.

The incident occurred last week in Ngurubani Township of Mwea Division, Kenya.

A Pison Warders wife bought three panties from a hawker but instead of taking them with her, the hawker delivered them to her house where the husband intercepted them.

As a result, the irate husband, who works at Gathigiriri GK Prison, has served the hawker with a notice “to either get himself out of the neighborhood or face drastic action from a rifle.”

Hawker Dan Kariuki sells second hand clothes in one of the many stalls in the town and the woman has been his loyal customer for the past two years. “I have sold her many items ranging from bikers, bras, scarves and other feminine items,” Kariuki says.

With the world now heading for a deeper recession than the lying, scheming, calculating, politicians have us believe we can do our share to help each other in this credit crunch or rather credit crotch.
I suggest everyone nips upstairs and takes a good look through your lingerie items.

Grab a bag and toss all those items you don’t wear and take them to your local charity/goodwill store and give them a second chance by letting them live again.
Many people including myself enjoy a good mooch through a basket of panties and bagging a bargain, not only that the money will go to a good cause and not too some greedy company directors pocket.
Be advised if you are planning to recycle your used knickers do not take dirty items, either wash them or throw them away, even charity shops have set standards and the slightest stain will see them thrown out for health reasons.

President Bharrat Jagdeo of Guyana listening to Gay rights groups is now considering the repeal of laws which criminalizes consensual sexual conduct between persons of the same sex and cross-dressing and should be the subject to public consultations he said.

“I think this matter should be subjected to consultation,” he said when asked at a press conference on Monday, where he emphasized that the government has a responsibility to pay attention to what society feels.

However, he also indicated that there is need to strike a balance between the public’s feelings and the need to prevent discrimination. It doesn’t mean that you are going to follow it completely, because you have to make sure that society advances in rights and term and other ways, making sure people are not stigmatized, Jagdeo explained.

Last week, six gay rights groups wrote to President Jagdeo, urging him to stop arrests and end abuses against people on the grounds of their perceived sexual orientation or gender identity. The Caribbean Forum for Liberation and Acceptance of Genders and Sexualities, Global Rights, Guyana Rainbow Foundation, Human Rights Watch, International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission and the Society Against Sexual Orientation Discrimination (SASOD) specifically called for the repeal of the laws that criminalize wearing clothes considered appropriate only for the opposite sex. Women have not been prosecuted under the law.

My mother always used to say “go and put on a pair of pants” or go and put a clean pair of panties on” which I always thought was funny because I only wear one pair of pants or panties. She could never give me a proper answer as to why they are called a pair of pants or a pair of panties, other than it’s probably because they have two leg openings.
So when I asked her “well why don’t you say your putting a pair of bra’s on” she couldn’t answer and just smiled at me.
Well because it’s always puzzled me I did some research apparently it all goes back to medieval times when pants or panties were refered to as bloomers or knickerbockers and which we now call knickers ” yes but we still say putting on a pair of knickers”.
In those early days underwear, pants, trousers, etc were made in two parts, each part for each leg. The pieces were put on each leg separately and then fastened with a cord or a belt. So the simple answer is the plural “pair” has persisted over time even though pants and panties are now manufactured and worn as one piece.
